Jenna Laukkanen lit up Finnish audience

On the third day Finland achieved its first EJC medal since 2004 games in Glasgow. Jenna Laukkanen clocked an outstanding personal best time of 2:29.67 in 200 meter breaststroke. Her former best was from March 2:32.30. Laukkanen took silver after Marina Garcia Urzainqui from Spain. Anastasia Sineva from Russia took the bronze.
 
On Friday two Championship Records saw daylight. Hungarian Bence Biczo won the title in 200 meter butterfly  with time of 1:55.82, a result which should be noticed also outside Europe.
“It was a difficult race for me. But I have trained just for this and even though the competition (last year's champion and CR holder Marcin Cieslak) was tough I got what I went after. That's a personal best for me also.” said only 17 years old from Hungary.
He will aim also for the very first edition of Youth Olympic Games in Singapore August.
 
Championship Record was broken also in girls’ 50 meter backstroke. British Emma Saunders shaved 0,05 seconds off Mariya Tereschenkos one season old record with result of 29.01.
 
Germany fell down from the first position of medals table during Friday. Team France is now in the lead with 4 gold medals, 2 silver and 6 bronze. Great Britain and Spain left Germany on the fourth position when two days is remaining for championships in Helsinki.
